"Karu is UNP leader from now on" Sajith says. " I would Like to accept the challenged, if all agrees " Karu says

At a media briefing this evening at Hotel Ranuka , Deputy leader Sajith Premadasa said , Karu Jayasuriya who is a Deputy leader of the UNP has agreed to take over the leadership of the UNP from now onwards. As the party is on the decline state day by day with the present backboneless leadership ; in order to avert this decline further , a group along with Sajith had requested Karu Kayasooriya to take over the leadership. Jayasuriya had consented to this , Sajith declared.

It is specially worthy of note that these measures are being taken when UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe is currently away on a tour of the Commonwealth .Since yesterday , Pro Sajith group was undecided over propelling Sajith forward while putting Karu in the forefront. They had made their proposal to Karu Jayasuriya. They wished that Karu becomes the new leader , Ranil Wickremesinghe the senior leader and Sajith Premadasa the Deputy leader.

It is learnt that in the proposals presented to Karu , the Executive President shall be Karu in the event of a new govt. of the UNP being formed in the future , Ranil Wickremesinghe shall be made the Prime Minister and Sajith Premadasa shall hold a senior Minister post. This group has clearly mentioned that the Executive Presidency will not be abolished , and instead it will be safeguarded.

UNP Deputy Leader Hon. Sajith Premadasa Criticized Ra-NIL for violating the party constitution

The process of selecting the UNP National Organizer was in complete violation of the party constitution, UNP Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa stated on May 4th.

He stated that the appointment should have been made by the Working Committee before April 12 while he added at a previous press conference that Ranjith Madduma Bandara's name was proposed for the position at the Working Committee meeting.

Hon. sajith Premadasa stated that the Leaders of the party , Ra-NIL was violating the party constitution blatantly while he condemned the act.

Ra-NIL, though he is a royalist, said to be a man who stabbs behind the back of those who are capable of making the party victorious and he is contiously making everything possible to protect his leadership by appointing Homo-type Individuals and Weak UNP MP's to post which are likely to cause any threat to his leadership. Ra-NIL also has no intension of toppling the dictators regime and he is now a bootlicker of Anti Democratic Mahinda.

SAJITH PREMADASA APPOINTED AS DEPUTY LEADER - ONE MORE STEP TO BE THE LEADER !

Hon. Sajith Premadasa has being appointed as  a deputy leader of UNP. Now UNP has 2 deputy leaders (other one is Hon. Karu Jayasuriya). Ranil Wickramasighe who has being the party leader for nearly 17 years and failed in more than 15 election to gain power butstill does not want to give up leadership which shows the greediness he is having to be the opposition leader ! .


It is also revealed that this was a tactical move by Premadasa fraction in order to oust king of failures Ranil  to bring back the glory of  the green party.

Master plan to Tarnish the Image of Sajith Premadasa ? - ( Baba ) Namal behind the scene !

According to the information we received, their is a master plan to tarnish the image of UNP future leader Sajith Premadasa who is gaining  popularity day by day..  Several crossed over UNP'ers like Johnston Fernando (A person who had studied only upto Grade 8), Another (former UNP'er) minister  from Kaluthara were hired so far.  Also some current UNP members who doesn't have much voter base are too being  paid to sling mud at Premadasa and tarnish his image.

It is further reported that ( baba ) Namal is behind the scene and keeping a close eye on the progress of the tarnishing campaign. The idea was given to him by Percy who won presidential elections twice by extreme cheating (which involved paying to Tiger Terrorists etc..). (baba) Namal fears that he will find it extremely difficult in future to win a Presidential or General Election against Sajith Premadasa who is having a strong support at the ground level.   

Oppostion supporters attending Sajith Premadasa's meeting attacked - Several Injured

Supporters of  the main oppostion party, UNP who were attending a meeting of MP Sajith Premadasa came under attack in Walasmulla yesterday. Sajith Premadasa's vehicle too had got damaged as a result. Luckily he was few steps away from the vehicle and was with the supporters. Otherwise he too woould ahve sustained injuriess. The incident took palce soon after the Oppostion election meeting took place in Wlasmulla town.


According to the news we got, several media personnels and policemens were injured and hospitalized. 


MP Premadasa condemned the attack on UNP suppporters and Several parties of the oppostion too condemn the attacked. It is reported that ( baba ) namal was behind the incident as he had told a news paper that I will never attack " Sajith Ayya ".   

Karu Jayasuriya must be made the interim leader, until Sajith takes over the leadership says Shiral Lakthileka

Oppostion main party UNP Western Provincial Councilor, Shiral Lakthileka addressing a public rally in Kadawatha on the 27th saturday said that Karu Jayasuriya should be appointed as the party's interim leader in order to re-build the party voter base and to re-unite it until Sajith Premadasa takes over the party leadership.


Shiral Lakthileka further said that if such a move is done, many problems faced by the party at present could be resolved with time and would bring unity to the party without having several fraction with in the party, which is the aspiration of every UNP member opposing the current administration headed by leader similar to a  dictator.


Time is now ripen to defeat President Percy Mahinda's government which is misleading the public, anti-people, swollen headed and unable to understand the problems faced by the people every day. Dowbfall of Rajapakse regime could only be brought down by a people's struggle like those that took place in Tunisia, Egypt and in progress in Libya & several other Middle Eats Countries.




A free and fair election cannot be held as long as the 18th Amendment is implemented and a powerful executive presidency existed in the country. It would also be difficult to bring the disgruntled voters to cast their votes at elections.It is therefore a day dream to think that a change looked for by the people could be brought about at an election that is held under a government that works according to its agenda and misuse at its will sate resources and the Elections Department.


It is therefore important to build a people's leadership in the party that could get the love and confidence of the people and to give protection to the commitments made by the people. The Sajith-Karu combination that was formed for the local government election seems to be working in that direction whic is good for the party.


It is Sajith Premadasa's young and energetic leadership that has been accepted, loved and trusted by the people and party members. 



Premadasa has given a great strength to our party candidates contesting against the government at the local government election by traveling to every small village.


The deputy leader together with the party secretary is traveling around the country in a bus. He is uplifting the party organizations that have fallen in various parts of the country using his long standing political experiences. His expertise, love and kindness has provided a great strength to the party activists.



The Sajith-Karu combination has given a great strength to the UNPers who are working towards a future victory. When Sajith Premadasa is working with great conviction to put the party back on the winning track, Karu Jayasuriya is working hard to manage the party affairs. This active relationship is essential for a future victory. Therefore, Karu Jayasuriya must be given the party's interim leadership to build the party base and unite it until Sajith Premadasa takes over the party leadership. If that happens, most of the problems faced by the party will be resolved with time. Party unity will also be safeguarded. That is the wish of the UNPers who are opposed to the government.

Ranil Wickramasinghe a clean politician but the weakest party leader in Sri Lanka

In Sri Lanka,a political party leader should have a strong backbone when taking decisions but we don't see it from him since 1994.His party which is the biggest party in Sri Lanka had being now in opposition for nearly 14 years since then.So many party stalwarts had crossed over to government as most of them had understood that under Mr.Ranil Wickramasinghe's leadership, they cannot come in to power (most of the cross overs may not be clean but cannot help under the way Sri Lankan politics is done).

He had appointed as well as favor only politicians who are not a threat to him as well as most organizers are weak political wise in their respective areas.His deputy too is a weak character (who crossed over to the government and then came back!).He does not take any advice from politicians who are well favored and/or respected by common people.

A political party should have politicians who can talk well for the masses at various situations,but now UNP has only very few like that as most had crossed over.Dayasiri Jayasekara,Sajith Premadasa,Buddika Pathirana (Recently emerged) and Ranjan Ramanayake (Recently emerged) and few more.So who knows what will happen for some of them after upcoming General Election?.

Also if he had managed to hold power some how in 2003 current situation wouldn't have occured.Also he had a chance to take power in 2004 election too as UPFA had only 105(+1 EPDP) seats which was a minority and if he had taken the support of JHU.Now the UNP voter base had got eroded to a vast level which is at a situation where recovery is some what very difficult.

UNP had won only 2 elections since 1994,So continuous loosing of UNP is not something for us to wonder..! It will continue as long as he is the leader....!
