Norway police: 'Eighty killed' in island shooting

At least 80 people died when a gunman opened fire at an island youth camp in Norway, hours after a bomb attack on the capital, Oslo, police say.

Oslo police are questioning a 32-year-old Norwegian man in connection with both attacks.

The man was arrested on tiny Utoeya island outside Oslo, where police say he opened fire on teenagers.

The earlier bomb attack killed at least seven people. The attacks are the worst Norway has seen since World War II.

Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg, whose Oslo offices were among those badly hit by the blast, described the attacks as "bloody and cowardly".

Hundreds of young people were attending a summer camp organised by the ruling Labour Party on Utoeya island.

Eyewitnesses described how a man dressed as a policeman opened fire indiscriminately.

In order to save his own skin , defense Secretary ,Gotabaya Rajapakse who gave direct orders to shoot innocent unarmed demonstrators at Katunayake has forced IGP Mahinda Balasooriya to tender his resignation fastening the entire blame on the IGP. The IGP has accordingly handed over his resignation this morning.

Giving orders to shoot innocent demonstrators engaged in peaceful protests is not only a serious offence from the standpoint of crimes but is also a grave violation of human rights. In order to suppress the grave criminal offence committed by the Rajapakse regime from the UN human rights sessions which are now on at Geneva, it is the IGP who had to pay for it with his position solely and wholly to protect the Rajapakse regime.

It is reported that the President has appointed a single member commission to investigate this crime with a view to rescuing Gotabaya who is responsible for the criminal action.

By now, it is no secret that the whole world is aware of the illegal orders given by this same defense Secretary to the police DIG Pathirana which went to establish law and order during the violent protests staged by Minister Wimal Weerawansa at the behest of the Regime in front of the UN office in Sri Lanka.
Lanka e news is in receipt of reports , that the defense Secretary gave direct orders to a DIG who was present at the scene of the protests to shoot the unarmed civil population who were gathered there. The Regime Leader and Gotabaya had been infuriated over the destruction of Mahinda's statue at the earlier demonstrations.
