Mahinda who was to be convicted of murder charges was made the leader by Ranil - An exclusive revelation by IGP Balasuriya (Source; Lankanewsweb)

IGP Mahinda Balasuriya has told few of his close associates that Mr. Ranil Wickramsignhe is responsible for making Mahinda Rajapaksha who was to be convicted and sentenced to jail on murder charges.

The IGP has made the revelation after the President has scolded him reminding of his mother in front of many other officials. We publish below an edited version of IGP Balasuriya’s revelation.

Beliatta Pradesheeya Sabha SLFP councillor A.M.K. Gunaratne who was a close associate of Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksha joined the UNP in 1991 after a row with Mr. Rajapaksha over a post in the Pradesheeya Sabha (PS).

Later he contested the PS under UNP ticket and was appointed as the opposition leader having won the most preferential votes. As the opposition leader of the Beliatta PS, he has then become a strong challenge for Mr. Rajapaksha in his own constituency.

However, he was brutally killed in 1997 by yet unidentified group. The then opposition leader Ranil Wickramasinghe and then UNP General secretary Gamini Athukorale have organised a huge protest in Beliatta against the brutal murder. Mr. athukorale has pledged to find the culprit and punish them in a UNP-led administration.

When the UNP came to power in 2002, the CID have begun investigations on Mr. Gunaratne’s killing as well as the killing of Lalith weerasinghe, the son of former Tangalle MP Jinadasa Weerasinghe.

Then Internal Security Minister John Amarathunga has empowered DIG Lionel Gunathilaka to investigate the double murdered and ASP A.S. Gnanaratne was specially assigned for the investigation.

Mr Gnanaratne’s investigations have revealed that both the murders were committed by M.K.Ranjith alias Chandi Malli who was a close associate of Mahinda Rajapaksha. When Chandi Malli was arrested, he has confessed that Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa ordered both the murders. He has also revealed that the pistol used for the killing, which belonged to the security forces, was hidden in the roof of Mr. Rajapaksha’s house in Carlton, Tangalle.

Mr. Gnanaratne has conveyed all these information to Minister John Amarathunga. When Mr. Gnanaratna was travelling to Tangalle to arrest Mahinda Rajapaksha, the then opposition leader Mr. Rajapaksha has called PM Ranil Wickramasinghe and begged him to save him from arrest.

PM Wickrasinghe has then called Minister Amarathunga and ordered not to take any action against Mr. Rajapaksha. When the minister did not obey the order saying there are clear evidence against Mahinda Rajapaksha, Mr. Wickramasinghe has directly phoned ASP Gnanaratne and ordered him to stop investigations and return to Colombo.

PM Wickramasinghe has explained to Minister Amarathunga that arresting Mr. Rajapaksha would be a huge boost for President Chandrika Kumarathunga. As it is important for the UNP and the PM that there are infighting in the SLFP, Mr. Wickramasinghe has told the Minister that the government should take political decisions accordingly.

IGP Balasuriya has added that then the CID stopped all investigations regarding the double murder on PM’s order and currently both files regarding the double murder have disappeared from Tangalle magistrates court.

He has also recalled how Mahinda Rajapaksha who used Chandi Malli to murger Mr. Gunaratne then used Vambotta to murder Chandi Malli. Few years later, Vabotta was also shot dead by yet unidentified group.

Elections to the remaining local government bodies to be held in Mid June - Regime planning to use Ban Ki-moon's report against the Opposition as a weapon.

Rajapakse Regime is looking at holding elections to the remaining 101 local government bodies by mid June, an official from the Elections Department said. The regime postphoned several urban councils and municipal councils which are very strongholds of main oppostion UNP saying phostphoning was done due to World Cup. The rest were phostphoned by election commissioner due to court orders (as some parties went to courts regarding the rejection of their nominations lists).

A senior minister of the regime said that Rajapakse is making sure to get the maximum benifit of Ban Ki-moon's report by using it against the oppostion in rest of the local government bodies.

He further said that the President believed that the present situation in the country would help the UPFA win the municipal councils including the Colombo Municipal Council which are strongholds of UNP as mentioned earlier.

Anti Democratic Rajapakse's Regime Impose Further Tax on Imported Vehicles as Family Regime is strugling with funds to survive - Likely to impose more and more taxes in near future.

Regime has raised import duties on several categories of petrol engined cars and three wheelers with massive increase in larger hybrid vehicles which had exceptionally low taxes initially according to  Treasury Secretary P.B. Jayasundara. On hybrid cars with engines below 2,000 cubic centimeters total duties will go up from 38 percent close to 50 percent. Then On petrol cars with standard engines with capacities below 1,000 cubic centimeters the effective total tax rate will go up from the current 95 percent to 120 percent.

Between 1000 to 1,600 cc the effective rate will go up from 119 to 128 percent. On three wheelers the effective rate will go up from 38 percent to 50 percent.

For the moment the total taxes on all petrol and diesel cars above 1600cc will remain unchanged.

It is learnt that tax increase was done due to IMF loan interests that has to be paid, huge expenditure on Rajapakse Family, huge expenditure on Ministers as well as Deputy Ministers, to cover up funds used and require in future to carry out election malpractices and also to pay some of the oppostion MP's who are supporting current oppostion leader to stay in that post to avoid any threat from UNP.

Sri Lanka Looses Home Advantage as a result of the local fools who suggested Keththaramma for the World Cup 2011 !

A match which would have being a victorious one for Sri Lanka turned in to a havock not because our lions performed badly, it's because of the fools who suggested & then developed Keththrammma for the world cup 2011...

Keththaramma stadium was some what a neutral one  till around  2004/2005 for day/night
matches but turned completly in favour of team batting first after that... So this victory on this pitch relies on the team winning the toss...

The persons who should take the blame are Suraj Dandeniyya, Chairman of Sri Lanka Cricket D
S De Silva & President Mahinda ( as he is the final decesion taker according to Goverment &
his henchmens..). Also ICC, for not going for grounds which are equally supportive whether
bat first or bat second (I don't say that we should go for 100 % equally favoring pitches,
at leat 40/60 or 60/40).

Most Sri Lankan fans are asking " why grounds like SSC, Galle Stadium & Dambulla Stadium
were not developed for the world cup instead of this ground..." which are very much equally favouring...

Anyway we still will go to the next round but what about the other matches held at this
ground ? (SL vs AUS match, SL vs KEN,  One Quarter Final, One Semi Final as well as Pk vs CAN, AUs vs PK to be played on this ground )

If something is not done,  Very soon in future Cricket fans (When matches are played at Keththaramma)
will wait for the toss as well as first secession but will leave the ground, if team they are supporting is batting second..

I think the ICC Decesion taking panel should think twice before giving the Chief Position to Money Crazy Indian in future...When they head something, they don't inspect most important things that has to be inspected....

Rajapakse asks Mervyn to do a pooja to nullify the effects of Anoma Fonseka's plea for divine intervention at Kebiliththe

The President who is disturbed by the divine intervention sought by Anoma Fonseka at the historical Kebiliththe devala located in the Yala sanctuary has asked Minister Mervyn Silva to do a pooja to nullify the possible ill effects that could affect him.

Devotees of Lord Kataragama believe that the god existed in real life form at the Kebiliththe devala. Anoma and a group of people had sought divine intervention against the President at the devala last September. The Rajapaksas believe that the President has faced many issues since then.

Western Provincial Councilor Hashan Thilekaratne and his wife Apsari Thilekaratne have also joined Anoma in the arduous trip to the great Kebiliththe devala that is situated in a difficult area in the Yala national park.
Hashan Thilekaratne and Mervyn Silva are also patrons of the historical devala.

Although a special pooja was organized at the devala on February 5 for the President, it had to be postponed due to the heavy rains experienced in the area that day.

Sources from Temple Trees say that the President who is under great mental stress these days has placed much faith in poojas and seeking divine intervention and has asked Mervyn Silva to do the needful.

Sanath Jayasuriya coming to politics while still being a national team player

One time master blaster now had entered politics.Any one has the freedom to come to politics but the bad thing is that he had entered to politics while still playing for Sri Lanka National Team.So UPFA had brought politics to current cricket players too.Arjuna Ranathunga and Hashan Thilakarathne came to politics after saying good bye to cricket as they are real Gentleman's according to myself.

He is an outstanding attacking batsman and a good part time spinner who had served the country at many a times without any dought but last 3-4 years he represented national team thanks to the head of Sri Lanka (as Sanath is still his favorite). Many youngsters couldn't get an opportunity as he had being occupying the national team opening batting slot for last few years even without any good batting performance.Cricket is a sport that can make you get lot of dollars in legal way to hand while politics is another way that it helps to get dollars or rupees in legal as well as other way. So all can understand very well what is he up to?(but I hope he will do better for country too like in 1996 worldcup if gets elected!).

Also according to some sources,Current SL Vice Captain Miralitharan is to contest Nuwara Eliya District from UPFA.Some says that these are candidates fielded in UPFA under the support of "Nil Balakaya"(Blue Brigade) of Namal Rajapakse who too contest from Habbanthota but some says Murali was brought to contest by S B Dissanayake. If Sanath wins,he will win with a large number of votes but if he loose,it will by a large margin.Still can't say anything about Murali.

Finally what I have to say is that, it is really bad to bring politcs to national cricket team. Also cricket fans will too get politicized as a result and it will lead to the rapid (as it is already happening to some level)downfall of cricket in Sri Lanka.
