Rajapakse Regime is looking at holding elections to the remaining 101 local government bodies by mid June, an official from the Elections Department said. The regime postphoned several urban councils and municipal councils which are very strongholds of main oppostion UNP saying phostphoning was done due to World Cup. The rest were phostphoned by election commissioner due to court orders (as some parties went to courts regarding the rejection of their nominations lists).
A senior minister of the regime said that Rajapakse is making sure to get the maximum benifit of Ban Ki-moon's report by using it against the oppostion in rest of the local government bodies.
He further said that the President believed that the present situation in the country would help the UPFA win the municipal councils including the Colombo Municipal Council which are strongholds of UNP as mentioned earlier.

POSTPONED LG ELECTIONS BY MAHINDA'S REGIME TO BE HELD SHORTLY
"Preparations are presently underway to hold the postponed elections in Local Government institutions very soon" said Election Secretariat.
Mahinda's Regime postponed elections in 34 Local Government bodies as their was a risk of loosing them to main oppostion UNP which is still strong enough to beat them at those postphoned local bodies. Mahinda a person who fears of loosing elections and power managed to postphone them by saying its due to the World Cup....
In addition the Election Commissioner opted to postpone elections in 64 LG bodied due to legal issues concerning these areas (Here also it was done by mahinda for fear of loosing power !)
P. Mahinda paid LTTE terrorists to win election in 2005 and also won 2010 election by a so called "computer jilmart" (computer fraud).

Court Orders to Postphone Akmeena, Akuressa & Monaragala Pradeshiya Saba Elections !
The court had ordered the relevant authorities to posphone Akmeemana, Akuressa and Monaragala Elections untill the petitions are heard and the verdicts are delivered.
The Court of Appeal of Sri Lanka ordered the postphoning regarding the petitions filed by the ruling United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) on the rejection of party nominations to Monaragala and Akmeemana Pradeshiya Sabhas as well Independent Group's nomination paper rejection for Akuressa Pradeshiya Sabhas for the local government election.
General Secretary Susil Premajayantha had filed the petitions in the court for UPFA .
All above three nominations were reportedly rejected due to the documents pertaining to the birth of candidates of the lists being incomplete.
but legal experts says that this is illegal. Mainly what they say is, if all parties & Independent groups who's nomination papers that were being rejected, goes to court what will happen ? Are they going to postphone all those provincial council elections ? if so, why didn't the Colombo Municipal Council Election was not postponed when UNP nomination papers got canceled having a similar issue like above last time?
The local government elections are scheduled to be held on March 17.
