People Tree might pop-up in a lot of posts today all around the web, as it's Blog Action Day. Anyway, I didn't know about this shop till I was looking around on the web a few minutes ago for a cool fair trade shop to post about. Found this one, I think its worth a look as they sell some simple, yet very nice t-shirts, and other clothing items. And it's fair trade, so, not only are they nice items, they will also be good for your karma :p
Here's People Tree's mission statement:
* To support producer partners' efforts towards economic independence and control over their environment and to challenge the power structures that undermine their rights to a livelihood. * To protect the environment and use natural resources sustainably throughout our trading and to promote environmentally responsible lifestyles and environmental initiatives to create new models to promote sustainability. * To supply customers with good quality products, with friendly and efficient service and build awareness to empower consumers and producers to participate in Fair Trade and environmentally sustainable solutions. * To provide a supportive environment to all stakeholders and promote dialogue and understanding between them. * To set an example to business and the government of a Fair Trade model of business based on partnership, people-centred values and sustainability.
If you know any other worthy fair trade shops, let me know.
I found about this one on W+K London's blog, it was a recommendation by Renny Gleeson (W+K Interact Strategy Director). It's one more of those web community, social gathering places. This one is great to find new music, and share songs you like. If you would like to check my selection, here is my invitation blip.fm/invite/akbsantos.
I, as probably most creatives, am a big fan of BBH. They just launched their new site. Worth a look, even if you're not interested in their work, the website is very clean, simple, and looks great.
Also, take a look at last years graduate recruitment advert. Very good acting by the ginger kid.
Yes, it's really unnecessary knowledge, but you do find some very funny facts, some even quite interesting. Anyway, when you run out of conversation, there are a couple of ice breakers here.
Flake.tv is an online television channel dedicated to urban lifestyle, art, fashion, music, and creative culture. I just saw a couple of short features they have and they were pretty interesting, definitely worth checking it out.
Converse launched a series of micro sites which you can access from thisistheindexpage.com. These sites feature some fun content, worth exploring for a few minutes.
Very cool photography project, where site visitors submit their photos, one of them when they were "young" and one where they are older replicating the first one. Great idea, definitely have a look.
Another awesome project by Orange. The first balloon race on the Internet. Check playballoonacy.com for instructions on how to participate. My balloon is called Breda.
This is a very cool web app/project, don't really understand what it means, I don´t know if it's a good thing to have lots of bright colored circles or not, but they do look nice. The one you see above represents advertising etc. Give it a go, and if you can read the graphic, do let me know what it means.
