He has waited for the Regime Leader to leave the country as he did not come face to face with Mr. Rajapaksha and reveal his secret plan to join the IMF, which has offered him a very senior position at New York HQ as gratitude to dancing to the tune of the IMF for last few decades destroying the country’s economy. The Cabinet of Ministers is reportedly furious over the timing of his resignation.
The SLFP which strongly criticised P.B. Jayasundara and UNP-led government’s IMF sponsored pro-rich policies adopted more pro-rich stance under the patronage of the same Jayasundara after coming into power.
Regime Leader, Mahinda Rajapaksha even went into the extent of seeking a reversion of a Supreme Court order that prevented Mr. Jayasundara taking over any public position after finding him guilty of serious corruption.
It seems his masters in the West and the IMF have now paid him with a senior IMF position for adopting pro-West, pro-rich economic policy ruining the local economy during the UNP, Chandrika and even Mahinda's regimes.
